A Personal Welcome to Your Family
Welcome to Ebata L.U.M.A. Studio! We want to affirm that choosing inclusive, personalized tutoring is a
courageous and loving step for your learner. We know that every student's mind works uniquely, and traditional
approaches don't always honor those differences. You have come to a place where we lead with what your child
can do, building a strong foundation of confidence alongside academic skills.
In your first week, you can expect a friendly welcome email and an intake packet of 14 forms. This might
sound like a lot, but it is the critical blueprint we need to deeply understand your child's learning profile.
Soon after, you will meet your dedicated tutor, who is already preparing to connect with your child's
interests and strengths.
Our promise to you and your child is built on four pillars — Learner-Centered care, Uplifting encouragement,
Measurable progress, and lasting Achievement.
With warmth and welcome,
The Ebata L.U.M.A. Team

We believe in transparency. Here is exactly how we will build the bridge to your child's success over the first

child's needs, habits, and learning style before your first session.

(Measurable)
Week 2
We finalize the personalized learning plan based on our assessments and host your child's first official
tutoring session.
U DEVELOP
(Uplifting)
Weeks 3-4
Goal-driven sessions begin in earnest within a supportive, positive environment. We establish routines and
build trust.
A DEMONSTRATE
(Achievement)
End of Month 1
Your first formal progress check-in. We review the data, celebrate early wins, and calibrate the plan for
month two.

Tracking Progress (The L.U.M.A. Way)
MEASURABLE PILLAR
-
The 14-Form Intake System — Gives us a full, multi-dimensional picture of your learner from
day one.
-
Monthly Progress Reports — Concrete goal-tracking against your child's personalized plan.
-
Parent Check-ins — Quarterly conversations to recalibrate and discuss moving forward.
Reassurance: Growth isn't linear — and that's normal. As we say at Ebata L.U.M.A.,
"the bridge wobbles before it holds firm." Your child's progress will have peaks and plateaus. Trust
the process.

Home Support Tips
📖 Reading at Home
Create a literacy-rich environment.
- 15-min daily reading
- Read-alouds (even for older kids)
- Audiobooks count as reading
- Regular library visits
- No screens during reading time
✍️ Writing at Home
Remove the pressure of perfection.
- Low-stakes journaling
- Sentence-of-the-day practice
- Dictation for reluctant writers
- Celebrate effort over neatness
- Model your own writing process
🎯 Independence
Empower them to take charge.
- Use a physical planner
- Time-block homework chunks
- Teach self-advocacy phrases ("I need a break")
- Praise specific effort
- Let them solve small problems first
The Partnership Equation
Student
Effort
+
Tutor
Expertise
+
Family
Partnership
= L.U.M.A. Results
Real academic growth happens when all three pieces work in harmony. Your child brings their effort and unique
mind. Our tutors bring research-backed expertise. And you bring the critical family partnership that sustains
progress outside of session hours.

FAQ for New Families
- Q: My child is nervous about starting tutoring. What should I tell them?
-
A: Reframe it: "This is a tutor who's here to learn HOW YOU learn — not test you." Most kids relax completely
by session 2.
- Q: How much homework will tutoring add to my child's plate?
-
A: Tutoring is not extra homework. We work WITH school assignments and add practice only when it strictly fits
the goal plan.
- Q: Can I sit in on sessions?
-
A: For K-3 students, often yes. For older students, we recommend stepping out — independence is part of the
work. You'll get a thorough summary every session.
- Q: What if my child doesn't click with the tutor?
-
A: Tell us by week 2. Fit matters immensely, and we will match you again at no cost. There are absolutely no
hurt feelings.
- Q: How do I know it's working?
-
A: Monthly progress reports + your child's visible confidence + teacher feedback. We measure what matters.
- Q: When can we celebrate?
- A: At every win — big or small. Ask us about our "Bright Spot" celebrations.
